Tuesday Tip: Maps!!

Austin has been named one of the most desirable destination wedding spots for couple's looking to give their wedding guests a full weekend of entertainment. So what is the best way to show out of towners where to go? A map, of course!

Meet Taylor!

You may have noticed a new face bouncing around the many wedding events hosted in Austin recently. She's a trendy dresser, has a cute bob everyone wishes they could pull off as well as her, and is obsessed with all things wedding. She passed the Stratford Events "Are you Crafty Enough" test at the Austin Weddingday Style Engaged! event, and even arranged some flowers for our open house at Le San Michele. So without further adieu, I am pleased to introduce the newest edition to the Stratford Events team: Taylor Ladd, Event Design Intern.

Where do you go to school and what are you studying?

I'm a student at Texas State University studying Public Relations.

Why did you choose to do an internship with Stratford Events?

I was first introduced to Stratford Events at the Bridal Extravaganza this past January.  I wasn't looking for an internship at the time but fell in love with their style and display instantly.  They were by far the best booth at the event.  I then met Ashlyn and Margo and they were so much fun!  I was completely blown away and decided if they'd have me I would love to work with them.  I guess luck was on my side!

How would you describe your personal “style”?

If I had to pick 5 adjectives to describe my style they would be: classic, edgy, retro, fun, and a touch of glamour!

What is your favorite 2013 wedding trend so far?

The 1920's vintage look!  The style of the roaring 20's fashion is very romantic and elegant.  I can't wait to see it return.

What are you most excited to experience during your internship?

I am most excited about the chance to be a part of so many magical days!  I have been in love with weddings since I was a little girl and look forward to sharing that passion with my co-workers and our brides!

Stratford Events wins FIRST PLACE

Stratford Events is proud to announce that earlier this month, our room at the Austin Weddingday Style Engaged! Event took FIRST PLACE in the Room Design Contest. According to Alaina, CEO of Austin Weddingday Style, Stratford Events won the contest because the secret judges were impressed by our "attention to detail". Which of course makes us VERY happy because we always strive to create weddings that are rich in details inspired by our lovely couples!

MODestly Anthro

Well... let me introduce you to MODestly Anthro:

My Mimi (Mom's mom) lives in a gorgeous white columned house on the border of Louisiana and East Texas.  When it was built in the 70's, she furnished it in colors of "harvest gold and cornflower blue". Her classic taste is what inspired our Bridal Extravaganza design, and in fact, we even used the amber colored glasses from her cupboard for our place settings.

Wood painted signs give every event a touch of detail and can be custom made by Stratford Events.

The mustard yellow chairs from Furbish Vintage Rental gives the design a pop of color against the navy linens and wood furniture accents.

Did I mention we do all of our own floral at Stratford Events? We are a one stop shop for everything wedding related!

Ode to 2012

The best trends of 2012, Texas Edition!!

1. Mason Jars

From cocktails to chandeliers, mason jars were front and center at many of the "rustic" style weddings seen in 2012.

2. Succulents

Native to Texas, succulents were quite a hit this year. How fabulous is this succulent wall? The story behind it is even better! The bride grew all of the succulents herself and made them a theme throughout the wedding!

3. Ombre'

We had no idea what this word meant until 2012, but now it's a design element we just can't live without!!

4. Chevron

A throw back pattern that is sure to continue into 2013!

5. Neutral Tones

Carrying over from 2011, brides dressed their friends in whimsical neutral tones.

6. Candy Bars

This trend speaks for itself. What guest wouldn't want to leave a party with a bag full of treats for the road?

7. Fun Photo Booths

Photo booths aren't what they used to be, that's for sure!

7. Food Trucks

What Texas wedding would be complete without a late night visit from a food truck?

9. Signage

Pretty signage was a staple for 2012 weddings!

10. First Looks

Couples are breaking tradition and spending a sweet moment with each other before the ceremony!
